Official Caddying Story: David Podas PGA

David Podas is the Bel-Air Country Club’s Director of Golf. Dave, as he’s more casually known, is not only a longtime member of the PGA of America but also serves on its Rules Committee. Additionally, Dave is a devoted member of Titleist’s national advisory board. Though a Minnesota native, it was caddying in Arizona that helped launch his venerable golf career. Whether it's working as a rules official in one of golf’s majors, competing in the 2007 Buick Invitational (won by Tiger Woods), desperately trying to improve Al Michaels’ golf swing, or regularly squaring off against Corey Pavin, there isn’t much that he hasn’t experienced in the game.

Official Caddying Story: John Hallberg

John Hallberg is the former CEO of the Children’s Cancer Research Fund (CCRF), a post from which he retired in 2020. Prior to that, he led business divisions at companies like Getty Images and General Mills, but it was caddying in his youth where John laid the foundation for his career. Today, he serves on the board of the Minnesota Golf Association and is a director of the Western Golf Association. He is also a trustee of his alma mater, Gustavus Adolphus College.

Official Caddying Story: Eddie Melendez

Eddie Melendez is the president of local media for Entravision. Before joining Entravision, he spent a decade in various sales management positions with Galavision, Telemundo and Univision. Eddie began his broadcast media career with Katz Television, the nation’s largest rep firm, before joining Tribune Broadcasting’s KTLA-Los Angeles local sales team. The first in his family to attend college, he graduated from the University of Kansas with the help of the Evans Scholarship Foundation. Now a member of the National Association of Broadcasters Television board, Eddie got his start working as a caddie in Los Angeles.

Official Caddying Story: Jim Ellis

Jim Ellis is a tenured professor at the University of Southern California and was previously the dean of its Marshall School of Business. Under his leadership, Marshall became one of the premier business schools in the world, and it was by caddying in his youth that Jim was first exposed to the business world, which helped shape his career path. Before entering academia, Jim was the president and chief executive officer of American Porsche Design, vice president for merchandising and developing products for Broadway Department Stores, founding director of Professional Business Bank in Pasadena, and director of Fixed Income Funds of the Capital Group. Jim serves on the boards of the Capital Group and Mercury Insurance as well as a number of nonprofits, like the Young Presidents' Organization, Kidspace Children Museum, Pasadena Chamber of Commerce, Chief Executives Organization and World Presidents' Organization.
